In Austin, car2go fields a fleet of 300 smart fortwo vehicles that can be accessed by members on-demand or by reservation. Insurance, vehicle maintenance, fuel and public parking are all included when renting a vehicle for all car2go members!
With the company’s new free-floating car sharing concept, members have the ability to drive the vehicles from point-to-point and park at most public parking spots in the City of Austin, including all metered spots for free. We pay the city for all metered parking so our members do not have to!
To become a member, there is a one-time registration fee for a lifetime membership of $35. This fee covers the cost of obtaining and reviewing each person’s driving record to be included in the company’s insurance coverage, the RFID membership card along with other activation costs.
